NCOUG Spring TechBlast 2010

April 9th, 2010

Location: Blueridge Conference room, Building 5 (Creekside), Cisco Systems, RTP, NC 27709

Sponsored by Burleson Consulting

Our NCOUG Spring TechBlast continues in our tradition of finding the very best Oracle experts to maximize your learning experience. Join us at Cisco on Friday April 17th for our spring Oracle TechBlast.

* Steve Feuerstein  – “One of the World’s leading experts in Oracle PL/SQL programming”.

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to “tune in” to the new secrets in Oracle software.

- 12:30 – 1:00 PM – Networking

- 1:00 – 2:15 PM -  Guarantee Application Success

How can we break out of the vicious cycle caused by buggy software, and instead build wildly successful applications? First, we have to agree on what it means for an application to be successful. Then we need to map out the key processes and techniques that will help us guarantee that success. This presentation identifies three main criteria of success (our code must be correct, fast enough and maintainable) and then offers ideas to automate the code testing process, optimize performance, and reduce the cost of maintenance.

- 2:15 – 2:30 PM – Break

- 2:30 – 4:30 PM – High Performance PL/SQL

Users hate to wait – for anything. For our applications to be successful, they not only must be correct (meet user requirements) and maintainable. They must also execute efficiently enough to avoid user frustration. This session reviews the most important techniques for improving PL/SQL performance, including data caching, FORALL and BULK COLLECT. After attending this session, you will be able to proactively identify opportunities for applying techniques that will most dramatically (generally, an order or magnitude or more) improve the performance of your PL/SQL code.
